◆Japanese web design/creation
A simple Japanese translation of your current web site is not enough to guarantee that the information provided will be understood or acknowledged by a Japanese audience. Differences in cultural standards and social tendencies often mean that a complete re-design of your site is necessary first to capture the attention of Japanese audiences, and then to convey the information contained in the site. GIS maintains a staff of web designers and programmers familiar with current trends in Japanese web design, as well as access to a large bank of translators. Let us make your web site the best it can be in Japan.
◆Support for Japanese language study programs
Japan is host to students from all over the world participating in a wide variety of homestay and study-abroad programs. These programs help to internationalize not only the foreign student in Japan, but also the Japanese families, institutions, and communities which host these students. A stay in a foreign country, however, can quickly become a bad experience if students are not at least minimally prepared for the sometimes vast cultural and linguistic differences they will face. Why not develop a web site which provides basic language instruction on the Japanese words and phrases your students will need most, as well as including small culture and history lessons to help excite and prepare students for their upcoming stay in Japan? Let the web programmers and designers at GIS develop an interactive web site in your native language which will help to lay the groundwork for a happy and memorable stay in Japan.
◆Reference manual development
No matter how revolutionary or simply fun a new product is, it can't be successful if the users of that product can't read its documentation. Whether you've developed a fantastic new computer game, or a brand new communications technology, the translators, designers, and technical experts at GIS can help you to translate the reference documentation, as well as create a design and layout for your manuals that is clear and understandable to the appropriate Japanese audience.
◆Support for software created for the Japanese user
While Japanese users enjoy program upgrades as well as completely new types of software, the deep roots of their long history and culture have not encouraged them to easily accept change. Even though a new computer program may perform wonderful tasks, it may not be widely accepted unless it conforms to basic display and interface standards that Japanese users have become used to. The programmers at GIS will consult with your company's programmers on necessary interface standards such as menu options, shortcuts, button arrangement, and even splash appearance to make your application as user-friendly and attractive to the Japanese user as possible.
◆Support for demonstration programs created for the Japanese user
Japanese society currently maintains one of the highest per-capita incomes in the world. This does not, however, mean that the Japanese people spend their money carelessly. It is quite possible that even a fantastic new software application could be overlooked by its targeted Japanese audience if advertisements and demonstrations of the application do not incorporate a knowledge of current cultural and social trends necessary to seize the attention and interest of the Japanese audience. Let the experts at GIS develop demonstrations for your software which represent the full benefits of your new application in such a way as to be most widely acknowledged by the Japanese consumer.
◆Intermediary services for successfully accessing the Japanese marketplace
Percentage-wise, fewer Japanese people speak a second language than do most of the people of the world. Even in an age when computers and the internet have helped to make English the international language it is, Japan lags behind in the study of foreign languages due to its unique cultural and social traditions. This simple but concrete fact has led to the failure of many non-Japanese companies attempting to enter the Japanese marketplace. Companies which accept the challenges presented by the Japanese marketplace, and submit to the fact that they must do business in Japanese are able to find success. As a successful Japanese business with knowledge of the industries related to computing and communications, GIS can help your company overcome the linguistic, cultural, and social problems that often arise from trying to do business in a marketplace which speaks only Japanese.
◆Bug check for newly Japanese-localized software
The Japanese written language has been the cause of a great many casualties in the computer software industry. The localization of applications from a Roman alphabet-based language to Japanese has often been abandoned due to the frequent errors that occur when the text is actually displayed. The Japanese written language consists of three types of characters called hiragana, katakana, and kanji. As these characters require 2 bytes of storage rather than 1 byte as do alphabet letters, they can easily appear as meaningless dots and squiggles when displayed on a machine which doesn't support 2-byte characters, or when improperly inserted into application code. Perhaps you have developed an application that will change the world of computing, or a game that's certain to become a rage in Japan. Don't let the problem of the Japanese written language be the cause of your software's failure. Follow the example of U.S. computer industry giants such as IBM, Microsoft, Adobe, and Macromedia and make your product the standard in Japan that it is elsewhere. The programmers at GIS are able to localize your epoch-making application for the Japanese language from beginning to end, or to perform a thorough review of an application which has already been localized, verifying that no language-related errors exist.
